My Dream For Animals

At Chic, we work closely with animal welfare organizations, such as RSPCA to help contribute in raising awareness of animal cruelty, abandonment & mistreatment.

We've just learned that George Speros from The Society Management New York, an agency we work very closely with has recently launched 'My Dream For Animals.'

MyDreamForAnimals.com aspires to educate readers to the widespread mistreatment of animals, critters domestic and exotic alike. As the name implies the site proposes achievable “Dreams” and details the dire situations, but also includes how actions can translate to positive change. The site also profiles people and organizations actively impacting the well-being of animals.

George didn’t have to look far to find other animal lovers to help him with outreach for the launch of his site, wildly good-looking ones, too. Runway and editorial stars such as our Alisa Ahmann and Catherine McNeil amongst them jumped on the chance to get behind his cause, sitting for the lens of Scott Mac Donough, all subtly channeling their primal nature.

What is “My Dream For Animals” all about?
George Speros: It is a website created to educate people about animals and how they are treated. My intention is to hopefully inspire them to make different choices and/or take action to help.

In just a few words, why is this an important cause?
Because animals are feeling beings and should only be treated with compassion, dignity and respect.

You described the approach as non-confrontational, can you expand on that?
I feel the key to change is educating people about things they might not be aware of, showing them the wide range of feelings and emotions animals possess, and then letting them make their own choices. You’re not going to change a woman’s mind about fur by spray painting her fur coat, but you might if you show her the personalities and emotional lives of the animals used to make the coat

What were some difficult habits for you to kick that went against this new-found pursuit?
Pizza! I love cheese but became a vegan after I made the connection in my head that the dairy industry is the veal industry. Cows need to constantly have babies to produce milk. If the newborn is male it is sold to veal farms within a day or two after birth

Noam Frost for IMZCR8

Our Noam Frost features on IMZCR8 this week in a tell all interview... If you thought you knew Noam Frost, think again.

WHO IS NOAM?
From Israel. Born in tel aviv. I am passionate about music. I can spend hours filing through old records and going to concerts. I love tattoos

DO YOU HAVE ANY?
Not yet. But I will.
WHERE DOES YOUR NAME COME FROM?
(pronounced No - Am)
All the names in Hebrew have a meaning, Noam used to be a boys name until the 90s, but now it's unisex. It means gentle, so basically when someone touches you with that 'softness'.
Frost - my grandparents are Polish/Hungarian/Russian. It's such a young country that there is a really big mix of cultures. French, Spanish, Moroccan , German...
WHAT'S THE MOST DOMINANT CULTURE?
There are 2 million Russian. I guess Polish, Russian, Moroccan or Spanish are most dominant. It's so diverse.
HOW DID YOU GET INTO MODELLING?
My mum used to model in the 80s in Paris. She did pageants in Israel. When I was young I would look through her portfolio. My dad is a reality TV director for shows such as Israel's Next Top Model, Survivor, Amazing Race, Master Chef, Beauty and the Geek - all the Isrealie versions. He used to tell me I'm not aloud to model until I was 16. Then he made a film on the fashion industry and worked with my mother agent. He said if you are going to model this is the woman you should do it with. So I started doing it a little at high school. Then when I finished I flew to London and Paris fashion week walking for Mulberry, Acne, Johnathan Saunders, Christopher Kane. It kind of all took off from there.

WHAT'S THE BEST PART ABOUT YOUR JOB?
That I can get into character and play around. It's fun to travel not just to locations, but within my head and get something new from every shoot. It's like acting.
WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR FAVOURITE BITS SO FAR?
Christopher Kane was my favourite show to walk for. His collections are like art. Such talent and so nice. I recently shot the Dion Lee Resort 16 collection in Sydney. I also walked for him in London. I really liked that.
WHAT WOULD BE YOUR DREAM JOB?
Celine. It's so clean and refined.

WHAT WAS IT LIKE GROWING UP IN ISRAEL?
I think there is a lot of misconceptions about Israel . A lot of the time I get asked if we have to walk around covered up. Tel Aviv is a beach city. It's a hot country and the night life is amazing. There is such a big restaurant and food and coffee culture there. I love Tel Aviv. It's my favourite city in the world.
YOU MENTIONED YOUR DAD DID NEXT TOP MODEL...WHAT IS THE FASHION INDUSTRY LIKE IN ISRAEL?
It's quite small. After a few months you will know everyone. It feels like family. For 20 years there were no runway girls. Just commercial jobs. When my mother agent, Elinor Shahar, sent me overseas to do the shows and it went well, it started a wave of Isrealie show girls. Israel is a small country so when the girls do well we are very proud.
There are a few big designers. One, Alon Livne, he just did the Beyonce tour, and the designer for Lanvin, Albert Albez is Isrealie. The style is beach clothes and fine taloiring. Israel is like Australia, we don't really have a winter so that restricts the style. There is a massive vintage scene and ripped jeans and Tshirts. We dress in a in a similar way to you guys.
WHO WOULD BE YOUR THREE GUEST OF CHOICE AT A DINNER PARTY?
- Kate moss, Kurt Cobain and Andy Warhol.
IF YOU COULD GIVE THE WORLD ONE TIP...
That there is life after high school. For me being so tall and awkward at school , I felt really insecure. But that doesn't matter anymore, now it is a virtue in my career. Things get better with time and you are accepted for who you are. We develop, and become stronger, and everyone becomes more considerate and respectful.

STOP THE YULIN DOG MEAT EATING FESTIVAL

"RAISE UR PAW" need the voices and paws of the world to be raised to help ban the YULIN DOG MEAT EATING FESTIVAL which is going to occur on June 21, 2015.

Countless Canine Lives will be sacrificed in order to fulfill an inhumane tradition that has been permitted to occur for many years - and it is now time this horror is finally put to an end.

This brutal "Festival" involves what some call savouring the "delights" of dog meat hotpot, lychees, and strong liquor -- which will increase the abduction of strays and pets and also increase the torturous & inhumane prisons of dog meat farms - places where man's best friends are raised for such purposes -- thousands of dogs will suffer, be butchered, beaten to death, skinned alive and eaten...

Rachel Rutt for Instyle Magazine's July Issue

Our beauty Rachel Rutt shines in the latest issue of Instyle, looking like a floral vision in 'Pitch Perfect' she talks to Chris Urankar and teaches us a thing or five about herself...

"From the international catwalks to the recording studio, model-turned-musician Rachel Rutt is always pitch perfect. See her bloom under a canopy of striking florals"

1. She was born in Hong Kong...
and raised in Japan. Rutt then moved
to western Sydney with her mum when she was 15. “The beauty of the area is
that it has a strong migrant culture,”
she says. “What I love about Australia
is that everyone has a unique story, whether your family has been here
for 200 years or you arrived last week.”

2. Akira Isogawa was her first big fan.
With high cheekbones and almond eyes, Rutt’s unique features come from her Singaporean mum and English dad. On her debut for Akira Isogawa’s spring/summer lookbook in 2008, Rutt says her “appearance was celebrated for the first time. Before then I was cast as ‘kooky’.”

3. She not only models clothes, she’s made them, too.
The fashion pack followed Isogawa’s foresight and Rutt has since worked for 3.1 Phillip Lim, Mark Fast and Wayne. “Modelling is an incredible platform for meeting other creatives,” says the 23 year old, whose love of knitting backstage at shows saw her release a range of clothing through UK-based label Wool And The Gang in 2013.

4. The girl can sing!
Along with Ryan Grieve of The Canyons, she formed Heart People. Rutt’s Björk-meets-Lykke-Li vocal style takes centre stage, while the band’s sound is “inspired
by nature”. Watch here!
